Sandman Special v1 #1, 1991 - Neil Gaiman takes on the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, adding a few contemporary flourishes (such as the dialogue). Following the tale are a series of single age portraits, each by a different artist. Barry Smith is tasked with the Sandman himself. An ornate frame houses a mirror with no reflection. while leaves rain down on the title character. As usual, Smith's rendering evokes classicism and beauty. This issue also includes art by P. Craig Russell, Duncan Fegredo and Simon Bisley.
