Phantom Stranger #1 |
Phantom Stranger v1 #1, 1952 - Showing up when you least expect it, the Phantom Stranger intervenes when someone's in danger. No supernatural powers are evident, only implied. The character is featured in three separate stories, except for "Goblin in the Bottle". Less horrific and more crime-themed, these tales mostly expose ghosts and witches as devious plots by individuals. The first Phantom Stranger story, "The Haunters from Beyond" was later reprinted in DC 100 Page Super Spectacular #4. Contributors to this first issue include writers John Broome and Manly Wade Wellman, and artists Murphy Anderson, Joe Giella, Carmine Infantino and Sy Barry. Cover by Infantino and Sy Barry. /// key 1st appearance, 1st cover Phantom Stranger, 1st issue
