Strange Adventures v1 #180, 1965 - Out in the remote woods with his dog, a young hunter encounters an alien spaceship. Through exposure, he gains the ability to temporarily borrow abilities from any animal in his proximity. Buddy Baker makes his first appearance in this silver age science fiction story. In a subsequent issue, he dons a colorful costume and adopts the name Animal Man. Written by Dave Wood and drawn by Carmine Infantino and George Roussos, this story was later reprinted in Adventure Comics #412.
