Animal Comics v1 #1, 1942 - Finding out it's Pogo Possum's birthday, the sweet child Bumbazine bakes him a chocolate cake. While delivering it to him, Albert Alligator catches them both and anticipates a hearty feast. Making their first appearances here, the character would be revamped six years later for a syndicated newspaper strip. Writer and artist Wally Kelly would evolve the strip into one of the most influential in the medium's history. Cover by H. R.
