Star Trek v1 #1, 1967 - With the tv show premiering only a year before, Gold Key publishing secures the comic book rights to Gene Roddenberry's creation. Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, Dr. McCoy and the rest of the crew appear in comics for the first time starting with this first issue. As far as I know, these issues do not replicate any tv episodes, but contain original stories. Spock dominates the cover photo, while Kirk appears on the back cover. Black and white photos appear on the inside front and back cover. Photographs were prominently featured only in the first nine issues, followed by painted illustrations. This Dick Wood story was drawn by Nevio Zeccara. /// key 1st issue- - - - - - - - - -
