Marie Severin

Incredible Hulk v2 #102, 1968 - Continuing the storyline from Tales to Astonish, the Hulk suddenly encounters more than a few Asgardians. The Executioner, the Enchantress and the Warriors Three all make appearances in this story. Thor and the Silver Surfer make cameos in flashback form. This premiere issue is the start of the Hulk's second self-titled series. His solo adventures commence, occupying the majority of the book. Notably, the character's origin story from Incredible Hulk #1 is briefly retold. This Gary Friedrich story was drawn by Marie Severin and George Tuska. Kudos to Severin for her superb cover of the monster transitioning back to the man. No doubt this contributed largely to the book's success. This is the Hulk's second self-titled series. /// key 1st issue / select Severin cover
