Gangsters and Gun Molls v1 #1, 1951 - In this first issue, Wally Wood illustrates the inside front cover that sets the tone for the rest of the issue. As usual for the publisher, a montage layout is used. Wood also adorns his work with beautiful (and in this case brutal) women. The use of black and greytones is masterful, making up for the lack of color. Also, the shadows of the background tree's foliage cleverly frame the top scene. This issue also includes artwork by Leonard Starr. This is 1 of 1 Gangsters and Gun Molls issues by Wood. /// key 1st issue
