Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #224 |
Walt Disney's Comics and Stories v1 #224, 1959 - For a beach-combing contest, Donald Duck looks for a valuable find to win a picnic lunch with Daisy. The bad news is his perpetually lucky cousin Gladstone Gander vies for the same prize.
Carl Barks' contests between the two characters are often gems of art and storytelling, and this one is no exception. No less than a massive tidal wave is the high point of the tale. This story was later reprinted in
Daisy and Donald #4. Other artists in this golden age comic include Paul Murry. This is 185 of 280
