Amazing Spider-man v1 #129, 1974 - Influenced by the notorious Jackal, the Punisher aims to take down Spider-man for multiple crimes. Even in his first appearance, the character has a heavy reliance on guns with few other discernible skills. The skull-themed costume alone, though, makes this anti-hero stand out from the pack. The Jackal's identity (an earlier supporting character) is revealed later in the series. This Gerry Conway story was drawn by Ross Andru, Dave Hunt and Frank Giacoia. Cover by Gil Kane and John Romita. After several appearances, the Punisher would have his own self-titled series twelve years later. /// key 1st appearance, 1st cover Frank Castle as the Punisher, 1st appearance Jackal
