Action Comics v1 #252, 1959 - When a small familiar-looking rocket crash lands from space, Superman discovers he's not the lone survivor of Krypton. Coincidentally, the female passenger just happens to be his younger first cousin. Supergirl makes her first appearance, recalling her own origin of how her parents sent her to Earth for her own safety. In a separate tale, Metallo makes his debut as a robotic adversary to the man of steel. Supergirl's origin, written by Otto Binder, was later reprinted in Secret Origins v2 #2. Metallo's (by Robert Bernsetin) in Superman Annual #2. Both tales were drawn by Al Plastino.
