Guardians of the Galaxy v1 #1, 1990 - On the planet Courg, the Guardians search for a legendary shield reputed to be unbreakable and invincible (yes, it's Captain America's). Starhawk, Nikki, Martinex, Yondu, Vance and Charlie-27 are attacked, first by hidden weaponry, then by an enemy calling himself Taserface. This first issue, written and drawn by Jim Valentino and inked by Steve Montano, marks the start of the team's first self-titled series (see also Marvel Presents).
