| Epic Illustrated #3 |
Epic Illustrated v1 #3, 1980 - Seeking another ally in the Zygoteans war, Aknaton finds the legendary warrior Vanth Dreadstar. Jim Starlin illustrates the series in full color going forward. Pulsating and electric, the artwork seems right for a science fiction epic. As usual, pacing and layouts are carefully considered. Starlin's second tale in this issue is equally well drawn. Dreadstar would later debut his own self-titled series two years later. Other artists in this science fiction magazine include Mike Saenz, Paul Kirchner, Michael Golden, Terry Lindall, Richard Corben, Tim Conrad, Paul Gulacy and P. Craig Russell. Cover by Gulacy. This is 3 of 13 Epic Illustrated issues by Starlin. /// key 1st appearance Vanth Dreadstar- - - - - - - - - -
