While the Watcher delays the inevitable, the Human Torch is sent on a mission to find civilization's only hope for survival. Although he appeared in the final panel of the previous issue, Galactus makes his first full appearance here. Jack Kirby shows the scale of the alien and his herald on his ominous cover. The story art begins with dramatic back to back splash pages, then proceeds with varying layouts and panel sizes. Kirby deftly toggles between three different events, including Alicia Masters' encounter with the Surfer. Written by Stan Lee, this issue is 49 of 116 Fantastic Four issues by Kirby.
