Silver Surfer v3 #1, 1987 - With the help of the Fantastic Four, can the Surfer finally breach the barrier that confines him to Earth? Our cosmic hero heralds in his second self-titled, ongoing series since the 1960s. This first issue boasts a lengthier story than usual, illustrated by Marshall Rogers. Despite four splashes and a two-page spread, the artwork falls below the standards of his previous work. Some pages are cleverly laid out and sequenced (pages 6,9), but too many others are either crowded or lack dynamism (pages 14-18). Sadly, this is among Rogers' less distinctive runs.
