Silver Surfer v2 #1, 1982 - A decade after the cancellation of his first series, the Silver Surfer appears in this one-shot special. John Byrne completes one of his lengthiest works to date. At nearly fifty pages, the story's pacing is tempered by six full page splashes. Despite the best intentions, Byrne's pencils are mostly buried beneath densely applied inks. His style emerges on certain key scenes, such as the Surfer's journey into the realm of Mephisto (see page below). His cover, on the other hand, is almost unrecognizable.
