Silver Surfer v2 #1 - John Byrne art & cover

Silver Surfer v2 #1 marvel comic book cover art by John Byrne
John Byrne
Silver Surfer v2 #1, 1982 - A decade after the cancellation of his first series, the Silver Surfer appears in this one-shot special. John Byrne completes one of his lengthiest works for Marvel. At nearly fifty pages, the story's pacing is tempered by six full page splashes. Despite the best intentions, Byrne's pencils are mostly buried beneath densely applied inks. His style emerges on certain key scenes, such as the Surfer's journey into the realm of Mephisto (see interior page below). His cover, on the other hand, is almost unrecognizable. This is number 1 of 1 Silver Surfer issues with Byrne art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Byrne or Silver Surfer issues.
