Fantastic Four v1 #6, 1962 - Doctor Doom and the Sub-Mariner team up for the first time, sending the FF and their headquarters into outer space through powerful magnetic forces. Jack Kirby squeezes every central character (and their dialogue) into a poorly designed cover. His interiors are better, dividing up the story into more manageable chapters. Sub-Mariner's foreshortening on page 20 is a low point, but offsetting that is Kirby's superb perspective shot of the Baxter Building on page 16. In short, the artist's approach on this series continues to evolve. This silver age story was later reprinted in Fantastic Four Annual #3 and Marvel Treasury Edition #2. This is 6 of 116 Fantastic Four issues by Kirby.
