Monkeyshines Comics #19 |
Monkeyshines Comics v1 #19, 1948 - In this brief Frank Frazetta tale, Pete the Peke (short for Pekingese?) begins his day as a joyful optimist. A sequence of odd events soon dampens his mood, leading to his arrest and even jail time. The artist's hand is evident mostly in the various character designs. Some appear in his other funny animal works for the same publisher. Although his draftsmanship excels, there is a noticeable lack of detail throughout the pages. A little more shading and modeling could have resulted in greater depth and richness. Regardless, Frazetta's talent outperforms the rest of the book. Other artists in this issue include Jack Bradbury. This is 1 of 1 Monkeyshines Comics issues by Frazetta.
