Fantastic Four v1 #8, 1962 - The nefarious Puppet Master makes his first appearance, along with his blind step-daughter Alicia Masters. Jack Kirby's artwork is fairly conservative, but he breaks up the monotony by including chapter pages. Each employs a larger panel than usual. The best of these is the start of Part 5, where the Thing dislodges a stone prison wall with his bare hands. Kirby's disturbing cover makes up for his mediocre pin-up of the Human Torch. Written by Stan Lee, this is 8 of 116 Fantastic Four issues by Kirby. /// key 1st appearance, 1st cover Philip Masters as Puppet Master, 1st appearance Alicia Masters- - - - - - - - - -
