Barry Windsor Smith (1949-) - Originally from the outskirts of London, Smith studied both illustration and industrial design. By the late 1960s, he would draw a handful of stories for Marvel, beginning with X-men #53. Assignments for Daredevil, Avengers and Tower of Shadows would soon follow. In 1970, he became the regular artist on the new Conan the Barbarian series. His primitive style showed a youth, enthusiasm and vigor that was instrumental to the character's success. In the 1980s, Smith brought a neoclassical approach to Iron Man, Machine Man and the Weapon X series in Marvel Comics Presents. This mature, more developed style added an uncommon elegance to his comics that endure to this day. Read more on Wikipedia.
