House of Mystery #84 |
House of Mystery v1 #84, 1959 - Experimenting with newly discovered radio power, two scientists unwittingly unleash a being of pure energy. The cover clearly pales to the renditions in
Jack Kirby's story. His artwork deftly captures the raw, crackling effects needed in most scenes. Kirby skillfully employs time-lapse figures to convey the emergence of the creature (see interior page below). The overall effort outshines the rest of the tales in this issue. This story was later reprinted in
House of Mystery #194. Other artists in this golden age comic include Nick Cardy. This is 10 of 11
