Avengers v1 #13, 1965 - The head of the Maggia lures the Avengers to his castle in New Jersey, only to send their dopplegangers to Washington DC.
Count Nefaria makes his debut as a European-styled, monocled crime lord.
Jack Kirby's version is slightly more disheveled. His cover frames the villain within a circular control panel. The shape separates him from the Avengers' oncoming attack. Adeptly drawn, he adds an impressive amount of detail on the panel. This silver age Stan Lee story was drawn by Don Heck and Dick Ayers. This is 13 of 38
