Weird Science-Fantasy #24 |
Weird Science-Fantasy v1 #24, 1954 - Prospecting for uranium in the desert, two men are whisked away on a UFO to a planet populated with beautiful women.
Wally Wood's drawings display a high level of craftsmanship. He transitions the setting from barren landscapes to an advanced, futuristic world. Not surprisingly, Wood accentuates the beauty of the female figure on many of the pages. In
Al Williamson's tale, a space crew searches the galaxy for intelligent life, only to find it in planetary form. The artwork teems with detail, especially the first page's view of the ship's control center. Each page is meticulously drawn, aided by Roy Krenkel's meticulous inking (see interior page below). These stories were later reprinted in
Weird Science-Fantasy v3 #2. Other artists in this golden age comic include Joe Orlando and Bernard Krigstein. Cover by Al Feldstein. This is 2 of 5
