X-Men v1 #11, 1965 - Professor X and crew search for a powerful new being calling himself the Stranger. Unfortunately, Magneto and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants find him first. Jack Kirby opens with an eerily quiet cover design. Inside, he easily manages the task of drawing multiple characters in different scenarios. As usual, his action-oriented style makes for compelling reading. High points include demonstrations of the Stranger's star-spawned powers (page 10) and Cyclop's deadly optic beams (page 6). This Stan Lee tale was reprinted in X-Men special #1. - - - - - - - - - -
