Neal Adams |
Batman v1 #227, 1970 - Capitalizing on a short-lived trend during the late 1960s, this Batman cover employs a gothic romance theme. Mysterious and haunting, the scene is hauntingly drawn.
Neal Adams freely borrows the layout from
Detective Comics #31 from 1939. His maintains the tone but opts for a more contemporary execution. Although inspired by an earlier cover, this is considered a classic among his bronze age works. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Mike Esposito, Irv Novick and Dick Giordano. This is 12 of 30
Batman issues by
Adams.
