New Mutants v1 #45, 1986 - Like most Marvel issues during this month, the cover uses a colorful "frame" packed with various heroes. In contrast to the surrounding chaos, Barry Smith's portrait of Illyana is more idyllic and serene. This fine illustration is a perfect example of his later neoclassical style. Other artists in this copper age comic include Jackson Guice and Kyle Baker.
