Neal Adams |
House of Mystery v1 #251, 1977 - DC's dollar comics format begins, featuring all new art and stories.
Neal Adams opens with a vivid new cover of children witnessing a tentacled monster. The artist returns to the theme he often used earlier in the series and works just as well here.
Wally Wood contributes a Sherlock Holmes parody, rife with goofy characters and scenarios. The story seems glaringly out of place in a horror comic (perhaps it was originally intended for
Plop?). Still, Wood's artwork is funny, entertaining and reminiscent of his 1950s work for Mad. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Jack Abel, Franc Reyes, Jess Jodloman, Bill Draut, Quinco Redondo, Ernie Chua, Alfredo Alcala and Ramona Fradon. This is 23 of 26
