Vault of Evil v1 #3, 1973 - Two men gaze upon an ancient shield, only to find themselves confronted by the mythological Medusa.
Frank Brunner's illustration is frightening, but tempered by the cover's jewel-like color palette. Note how the configuration of snakes varies between foreground and mirror, but not to the detriment of overall design. The bronze age comic contains various Atlas horror stories from the 1950s-1960s.
