Tarzan's Jungle Annual #3 |
Tarzan's Jungle Annual v1 #3 / Dell Giant, 1954 - One of his early Tarzan works, this issue contains two
Russ Manning stories with differing approaches to the art. His first, featuring Tarzan's son "Boy", quite frankly is a struggle in draftsmanship. Plenty of textural linework abounds, but faces and figures seem unbalanced and stiff. There is only the faintest resemblance to his later, more mature works. The second tale, "Tarzan and the Honor of Muviro", is better at utilizing shadows for contrast and depth. More care also seems to be taken in the rendition of foliage as well. Other artists in this comic include Jesse Marsh. This is 1 of 5
Tarzan's Jungle Annual issues by
Manning.
