Kid Colt Outlaw #59 |
Kid Colt Outlaw v1 #59, 1956 - Searching for gold in the mountains, an old prospector hopes to turn around his outlaw son.
Al Williamson's gestural drawings bring an immediacy to the tale. Quick strokes and cross hatching add texture and interest. Some details are lacking on the opening panel, but overall Williamson mostly meets expectations. Other artists in this golden age comic include Jack Keller. Cover by John Severin. This is 4 of 8

John Severin cover art.

Severin did some nice work. My personal favorites were his 1970s runs on Kull and Our Fighting Forces.
