Battleground #14 |
Battleground v1 #14, 1956 - A young solider struggles to survive trench warfare during World War I. Jack Kirby does a decent job laying out and penciling the tale. Some panels vaguely resemble his earlier 1940s work with partner Joe Simon. In his opening panel, soldiers hunker behind barbed wire while bullets whiz past. This bold wartime image is Kirby at his grittiest. Other artists in this golden age war comic include Joe Maneely, Pete Morisi, Don Heck and Bill Benulis. Cover by Russ Heath. This is 1 of 1 Battleground issues by Kirby.
