Jack Kirby
Fantastic Four v1 #80, 1968 - Responding to a call from Wyatt Wingfoot, the FF arrive at the indian reservation just as the Living Totem emerges. Three terrific splashes accompany a series of artful pages. Jack Kirby renders the Human Torch's futile attack (see interior page below) with appropriate gusto. His competently drawn cover precedes an unexpectedly humorous opening. Readers are greeted by the Thing's massive feet, placed obtrusively in the foreground. With symbols of domesticity around him, Kirby captures a moment in the heroes' everyday lives. This is 80 of 116 Fantastic Four issues by Kirby.
