Tower of Shadows #2 - Neal Adams, John Buscema art

Tower of Shadows #2
Tower of Shadows v1 #2, 1969 - As a young hippie couple meanders through the woods. a prehistoric sentient mass emerges from deep underground. Neal Adams, both writing and drawing the story, produces one of his finest works for Marvel. The opening scenes of a dark cavernous setting directly contrast against the encounter of the brighter surface world. Adams' figures often break the confines of the panel frame, increasing the sense of depth. To top it off, his pencils are made even more exquisite due to Dan Adkins' inks. This story was later reprinted in Tower of Shadows special #1 and Monsters Unleashed #8. Also notable is John Buscema's tale of a coal miner with an aversion to technology. The horrific ending is subtle, built up through strong visual storytelling. Other artists in this issue include Don Heck. Cover by John Romita. This is 1 of 1 Tower of Shadows issues by Adams. /// select Buscema art
