Marvel Super-heroes v2 #19 - Barry Windsor Smith cover + 1st Ka-Zar solo story & issue

Barry Windsor Smith
Marvel Super-heroes v2 #19 featuring Ka-Zar, 1969 - Back to his ancestral castle in England, the jungle lord openly conflicts with his civilized brother and high society in general. Ka-Zar's first solo story, written by Arnold Drake drawn by George Tuska and Sid Greene, predates the first issue of his first ongoing series. In one of his earliest covers, Barry Smith tries his best to emulate Jack Kirby but falls far short. The figure drawing lacks credibility (is Ka-Zar swinging or dangling?) and the layout is uninspired. Stylistically, it looks earlier than the issue's publication date. Smith's work would vastly improve with his next stint on Astonishing Tales. This is 1 of 1 Marvel Super-Heroes v2 issues by Smith. /// key 1st solo story & issue Ka-Zar
