Vacation Parade #1 |
(Walt Disney's) Vacation Parade v1 #1 / Dell Giant, 1950 - Sporting an optical illusion cover, this
first issue is one of the most sought after
Carl Barks comics. The artist contributes three wonderful tales, each impeccably drawn. "Vacation Time" is one of his lengthiest Donald Duck adventures at thirty-plus pages. Its opening splash of the duck family in the great outdoors is both comical and breathtaking. Many of Barks' page layouts are unconventional, using erratically shaped panels to full effect. Of his two remaining stories, "Grandma Duck" maintains a similarly high level of draftsmanship though nearly half the page length. "Vacation Time" and "Grandma Duck" were later reprinted in
Donald Duck #257, "Vacation Time" and "Camp Counselor" were reprinted in
Vacation Parade v2 #1. Other characters featured include Pluto, Lil Hiawatha, Bucky Bug, Chip n' Dale, Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Lil Bad Wolf. This is 1 of 1
