Metal Men v1 #49, 1976 -
Walt Simonson ends his run drawing the interior art for this title, just as the Eclipso storyline concludes. His rendition of the Metal Men continues to be among the best, augmented by his design of an ancient malevolent god named Umbra. Massive in size, Simonson portrays the behemoth in unique geometric and indigenous shapes. While most of the panels are small, larger panels (see interior page below) and the climactic full page splash on page 16 suggest the enormous sense of scale. This story was later reprinted in
