1st Issue Special #6 - Jack Kirby art & cover + 1st Dingbats

Jack Kirby
First Issue Special v1 #6 featuring The Dingbats of Danger Street, 1975 - The concept of a group of boy heroes was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby's during the 1940s. The genre would run its course, only to briefly resurface in subsequent decades. The Dingbats of Danger Street, making their first appearance here, is an homage to that era. Kirby introduces the main characters in the opening splash, a variety of archetypes/stereotypes inspired by the artist's own urban childhood. The cover seems a bit hurriedly drawn and inked with a minimum of detail. Kirby's interior art is drawn in his typically dynamic style, using stunning splash pages at the beginning of each chapter. This is 3 of 3 1st Issue Special issues by Kirby. /// key 1st appearance, 1st cover Dingbats
