World's Finest v2 #1, 1990 - Revisiting the origin of the Batman-Superman team-up, Steve Rude's artwork harkens back to the 1940s. While his renditions are strongly nostalgic, his layout and pacing are more contemporary. This mix of old and new result is a quite beautiful piece of work. This is the first of three graphic novels in the series, but Rude's spectacular cover sets this first issue high above the rest.
