Archie's Joke Book #44 - Neal Adams art (1st pro work)

Archie's Joke Book magazine v1 #44, 1960 - Before his work for Marvel or DC, Neal Adams drew several half-page and single page gags for the publisher of Archie. "Scrambled Yolks", the interior page below, is his first complete published work in comics. The drawings are fairly basic, struggling to adhere to the "house" style of the popular teen characters. Unfortunately, there is little of Adams' groundbreaking style that would emerge years later. Other artists in this issue include Harry Lucey. This is number 1 of 5 Archie's Joke Book issues with Adams art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Adams or Archie's Joke Book issues.
