Savage Sword of Conan #12 - Walt Simonson art

Savage Sword of Conan v1 #12, 1976 - After skipping several issues, the history of the Hyborian Age continues as a backup feature. New kingdoms and civilizations begin to emerge. Walt Simonson’s page layouts are more than adequate, but his drawings lose a bit of precision and detail. Still, the high point is his collage of races/ethnicities grouped within a full page splash (see interior page below). The Cimmerians first appear in this historical timeline, prompting a portrait of their most famous barbarian on the final panel.Other artists in this issue include John Buscema and Alfredo Alcala. This is number 3 of 6 Savage Sword of Conan issues with Simonson art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Simonson, Smith or Savage Sword of Conan issues. See also this blog's Simonson checklist.
