Two-Fisted Tales #41 - Wally Wood art

Two-Fisted Tales v1 #41, 1955 - Recounting the adventures of hunter Carl Akeley, a sudden elephant charge leaves him battered and near death. The dense African jungle is stunningly portrayed by Wally Wood. Wild animals and foliage fill nearly every panel. Most impressive is the artist's depiction of the bull elephant: first trudging through the bamboo (page 1), then charging his assailant (see interior page below). Told without dialogue, Wood's visuals seem to have greater impact than usual. Other artists in this issue include Jack Davis, John Severin, George Evans and Bernie Krigstein. This is number 18 of 18 Two-Fisted Tales issues with Wood art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Wood or Two-Fisted Tales issues. See also this blog's Wally Wood checklist.
