Steve Ditko |
Amazing Spider-man v1 #8, 1964 - A highly advanced robot runs amok in the high school, providing a greater challenge than anticipated for Spider-man.
Steve Ditko tends to show less effort on the cover, but does his usual fine job with the story artwork. His layouts tend to be busy, but both ordinary settings and obligatory action scenes are well paced. This "tribute to teen-agers" issue also includes a clash between Spider-man and the Human Torch. Entertainingly drawn, Jack Kirby's pencils are consistent with the rest of the issue, mostly due to Ditko's inks. This silver age story was later reprinted in
Marvel Treasury Edition #1. This is 8 of 38
