Two-Fisted Tales #34 |
Two-Fisted Tales v1 #34, 1953 - While residing in the Duke's castle, Sir Clyde Du Marchand stands accused of murder. Only a fight to the death against the duchy's best knight will prove his innocence.
Wally Wood regales his readers with outstanding drawings. The opening banquet scenes are well-crafted and appropriately opulent. The decisive battle that follows is depicted in same-sized, repetitive panels (see interior page below). Wood uses the effect to slow down the pacing, suggesting the prolonged nature of two equally matched combatants. This story was later reprinted in
Two-Fisted Tales v2 #17. Other artists in this comic include Jack Davis, John Severin and George Evans. Cover by Jack Davis. This is 16 of 18
