Avengers v1 #186, 1979 - The origin of the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver continue in this second installment. Modred the Mystic captures Wanda, preparing her body for a demon's possession. The eastern European locale is faithfully rendered by John Byrne, providing a setting for magic and revelations. The artwork dazzles, aided by Dan Green's sensitive inks. The issue ends with an impressive splash, but Byrne's depiction of a battle between sorcerers that rises above the rest (see interior page below).
