X-Men #13 - Jack Kirby cover

Jack Kirby
X-Men v1 #13, 1965 - Blowing through their defenses, the Juggernaut enters the X-men's compound for a final confrontation with Professor X. Although Jack Kirby provided the layouts, there is scant evidence of his style or influence throughout the pages. Penciller Jay Gavin seems to do just fine on his own. Kirby's cover better meets expectations, with its dynamic perspective and composition. The Juggernaut's massive figure dominates the scene. This is 13 of 17 X-men issues by Kirby.

"Jay Gavin" was a pen-name for Werner Roth, who eventually took over full pencils on the X-Men.
