Flash Gordon the Movie trade paperback #nn - Al Williamson art & cover

Al Williamson
Flash Gordon the Movie trade paperback v1 #nn (no number), 1980 - One of the longest movie adaptations in comics, this square-bound issue features over sixty pages of glorious Al Williamson art. A master of the science-fiction and fantasy genres, the artist is perfectly suited to chronicle the adventures of the space-borne hero. The drawings and layouts throughout are exceptional, using overlapping panels to expand the picture planes. Williamson also infuses each page with extraordinary amounts of detail. The only fault? The printing on better quality paper results in alarmingly bright colors. This story was reprinted a year later in three parts: Flash Gordon v4 #31, #32 and #33. Ironically, the muted color palette of these reprinted issues is far superior. The cover is taken from the title page inside (sans photo).
