Batman #217 - Neal Adams cover

Neal Adams
Batman v1 #217, 1969 - Like many DC covers of the late 1960s, this one employs a shocking, if unlikely, scenario. Batman turns his back on the Batcave, seemingly forever, leaving his tearful butler Alfred to seal up the contents. The readers' view from above adds perspective to an artfully composed layout. Neal Adams' fine effort is one of many during his tenure as the series' cover artist. Other artists in this issue include Irv Novick and Dick Giordano.
