(The Amazing Adventures of) Buster Crabbe v2 #2, 1954 - Based on the popular actor, this is the second comic book series to tout his adventures. All three tales feature different genres. Alex Toth's science fiction-themed cover adequately reflects his first story inside: Buster accompanies a rocket scientist and his daughter to the moon, where they discover an alien plan to attack Earth. The drawings lose a bit of their luster due to Mike Peppe's inking, but this is largely offset by the terrific page and panel layouts (see interior page below). Toth illustrates a second tale, a western that involves an ex-con, hidden gold and a string of murders. The pencils and inks are markedly better, while maintaining a high level of sequencing and composition. Other artists in this issue include Mort Leav.
