Fightin' Marines #9 - Matt Baker art & cover

Matt Baker
Fightin' Marines v1 #9, 1952 - Matt Baker's main cover scene lacks depth and hierarchy, affecting the entire design. His interior art is much better, chronicling the arrival of a Carmen Miranda-like beauty on the army base. Canteen Kate, needing a quonset, devises a plan to get it with the performer's help. Beautifully drawn and tastefully humorous (see interior page below), this is Baker's last Canteen Kate story on the series. This is number 9 of 11 Fightin' Marines issues with Baker art and/or covers (not including reprints). See today's posts, more Baker, Canteen Kate or Fightin' Marines issues.
