Brave and the Bold #34 - Joe Kubert art & cover

Joe Kubert
Brave and the Bold v1 #34 presents Hawkman, 1961 - With Joe Kubert at the artistic helm, Hawkman & Hawkgirl make their first silver age appearance in comics. From their native Thanagar, police officers Katar Hol and Shayera track a criminal down to Earth. Byth uses his newfound shape-shifting powers to evade then attack his pursuers. Kubert reintroduces characters he drew in the 1940s, but with increased skill and maturity. The artwork is sensitively drawn throughout, but his most memorable scenes include a huge Thanagarian monster. It's size, scale and extra detail is impressively dimensional. This story was later reprinted in Secret Origins of the Super DC Heroes. This is number 25 of 33 Brave and the Bold issues with Kubert art and/or covers (not including reprints).
