Jew Gangster - Joe Kubert art & cover

Joe Kubert
Jew Gangster (graphic novel), 2005 - Beyond the stereotypically Italian gangsters, Joe Kubert reminds us that Jews had their own mobsters during the early 20th century. This graphic novel chronicles the rise of a young Jewish boy from Brooklyn, as he ascends the ladder of organized crime. Kubert's somber illustrations are primarily black-and-white, with varying levels of detail. Most impressive are the grey-toned drawings that divide the story into more manageable segments. These glimpses into Depression-era New York are stunning reminders of Kubert's talent, skill and continued relevance. See today's posts or more Kubert issues. See also this blog's Kubert checklist.
